“Imua” With Jake Shimabukuro, John Cruz, and Anuhea;

July 9, 2023 at 6:30p.m.

In the native Hawaiian culture, “Imua” means to move forward or towards a goal. Enjoy an evening of island sounds from artists moving Hawaii music forward all in different ways.

Hawaiian-born Jake Shimabukuro started playing the ukulele when he was four years old and learned the basics from his Mother. Today, he’s become an international sensation known for reinventing the four-string instrument, causing many to call him “the Jimi Hendrix of the ukulele.” He is joined by one of Hawaii’s most beloved artists, singer-songwriter John Cruz who engages audiences with rich storytelling through songs ranging from Hawaiian to blues, folk and R&B. His song Island Style was most recently featured in the hit series White Lotus. The name “Anuhea” translates from Hawaiian as a fragrance or cool breeze and Maui songbird Anuhea Jenkins enters the room in like a breath of fresh island air, beautifully blending vibes of reggae, pop, R&B, and even country.
