Happy Thanksgiving Day, Mister President!

My mother was a very grateful person. It was her idea to continue in our family the American Thanksgiving tradition and at the festive table to talk in a circle about what everyone was grateful for this year.

While preparing the material for the issue of our newspaper “Kstati”/To the Point, I was thinking about Thanksgiving… and suddenly I realized that in addition to many people to whom I am personally grateful, besides wishes for our readers, there is one person whom I would like to thank especially and personally.

That person is President Donald Trump. Truth to be said, this was a bit strange for me,

I have never shown my gratitude to the politicians. I had never noticed about myself love for any authority. I just don’t like power. Any power. At best I am indifferent to it’s representatives. I voted for D. Trump mostly because there simply wasn’t any alternative.

And, in my own opinion, the authorities, even if there is something to praise, it is always healthier to abstain from praising them. They should never feel too comfortable. We know: when power is afraid of the people, it means freedom for the people. And when people are afraid of power, it means tyranny.

Even more so, I never thought of publicly expressing gratitude to the person in power.

To be honest, I was even a little scared of this desire of mine and decided to call several acquaintances and check their reaction: is there any uncalled for worship-like move in my desire? The reaction of my friends surprised me.

Everyone was happy, they said that the idea was wonderful and started to offer their own options – what they themselves are grateful to Donald Trump for. “Say, write, do not forget, formulate, translate into English …” – and everyone wanted to say why they were grateful to him, everyone wanted to sign up and send it to him to the White House.

Therefore, I considered it possible to write to the President not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of the large part of the Russian-speaking community of America, which did not succumb to mass psychosis, who voted and will vote for him, seeing what he is doing, and who does not participate in the witch hunt of the President.

But not participating is not enough. I want to publicly let know why we are grateful to the President. So this text is a letter to people, in which there is a letter to D. Trump.

Mister President! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we, large part of the Russian-speaking community of America, think of you.

The point is not only that the economy is growing, that unemployment has fallen more than ever, that you have lifted many unnecessary restrictions on businesses, that you support the only democracy in the Middle East – Israel. This and much more that you have already done is very good.

But the main thing for us, Mr. President, is that you call things by their rightful names. You call a spade a spade. We have seen so many lies in our life in the USSR that we hardly believe any.

You keep your word and do what you promised in the election campaign.

Honestly, no one thought it was possible for a politician to keep his word.

But you, Mr. President, you keep your promises, despite the persecution of yourself and your family, despite the twisting of your arms, betrayals and endless, shameless attempts of the establishment united in hate to get rid of you at all costs. You keep doing a stellar work, despite all dirty tricks that being used against you.  Anyone else would be given up by now, but not you.

You solve problems that for decades people in power didn’t want to solve put them off, being afraid to even formulate them, never mind doing something about them.

We are well aware that you are holding the defense for us all. You stop the liberals from making us a malleable herd that relies entirely on the State.

Thank you, Mr. Trump, the amazing president of a great country.

Thank you for your courage and for returning our faith in America that we dreamed about and which was built for all those who seek freedom and want to be masters of their lives. You have returned hope to us.

We are grateful to you for your struggle, because it is a struggle for each of us. You have already entered the history of the United States as the greatest leader of our time. The names of shiffs, müllers, brennans and other komis will be quickly forgotten, and they will talk about obamas, romneys and clintons as those who lived during the time of Trump and were  trying to prevent him from doing his job.

We wish you, your entire large and beautiful family health and courage.

Just know that sane America and we, the majority of Russian-speaking Americans of different nationalities, support you, and are proud of a person with such a will and desire to benefit his country that he was able to sacrifice a stable, glamorous and comfortable life for the survival of America, essentially for the sake of us all.

Thank you Mr. President. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
