10 Places I love In N.Y.C.

There are some things in life you should try (like travelling!), some skills you need to have (like swimming!), and some cities you must visit – New York is certainly one of them. This city inspires and wakes you up from deepest depression. It overwhelms you with its beauty and sweeps you from your feet with its sophisticated vibe. You can love or hate it, but never will you leave New York emotionless. Art, fashion, music, and money, whatever your heart is passionate about, the Big Apple has it all!

New York City has a countless number of attractions. No matter how many times you visit the city, there is always something new to discover. I will tell you about my 10 favorite places, I keep coming back to.

1. Statue of Liberty

The most famous Lady of all is located on Liberty Island. In my opinion, the Statue not only represents N.Y.C. itself but the entire country of U.S.A. Enjoy the outstanding views from the water while the ferry is taking you to the beautiful Liberty Island.

2.Central Park

This 843 acre (3.41 km2) oasis is a concrete jungle and is a truly magical place during all seasons. Yet it is the iconic fall look, with golden leaves, that will steal your heart forever.

3. Top of the Rock Observation Deck

While most tourists are fascinated by far more famous  The Empire State Building, I prefer the Rockefeller center. I have been to both skyscrapers, but the views from the Rockefeller observation center are much better! Not to mention that admission price and the waiting time are half of its competitor.

4.Broadway musicals’

You can watch musicals’ anywhere in the world, but the feel of origin, unique atmosphere, and the special touch of New York art, you can get only here. A little tip for deal catchers; show tickets can get pricey but if you make the purchase on the same day, the price drops significantly. Also, make sure to ask for a student, senior, military, or whatever discount you can come up with. I personally watched best Broadway musicals’ for as low as $25-30 each, and you can too!

5. Brooklyn Bridge

I walked it over a dozen times, yet I always return every time I’m in New York. The bridge is one of the most signature places of the city. Most of the photographers like to capture it in black & white to give it that special 30-s retro look.

6. Financial Center/ Wall street

I am in no way involved in finances but I find it interesting to visit the world’s “money “capital. Everyone dresses in expensive suits; while they are exploring stocks and banks and are walking in between buildings. Probably something similar to the movie Wolf of Wall Street; which you should watch if you haven’t already. Yet in reality, you watch them and either admire or feel pity. Simply observing the big-money-making atmosphere is an experience that puts you right in the middle of a movie scene.

7. Greenwich Village

Have you ever watched movies about N.Y.C. and its two story tiny houses? Here in Greenwich Village you will find those iconic New York style homes. It is one of the best parts of the city, with plenty of boutiques, fashionable stores, and impossible cute streets.

8. Brooklyn Heights Promenade

I’m sure you have seen those fabulous photos of Manhattan with its skyscrapers and flying helicopters. Ever wondered where those pictures were taken? From Brooklyn Heights Promenade. This little park is located pretty much under the Brooklyn Bridge. While enjoying the breathtaking views, take a stroll along the Hudson River and try some ice cream as well (it’s super delicious!).

9. Times Square

If Times Square is the heart of New York City, than the Yellow Taxis’ are the blood passing through the arteries you may call streets; they never stop flowing. Being one the most recognizable city attributes, day and night, these Yellow cars are moving on the streets. Feel the pulse of the megapolis, enjoy some of the world’s most creative and loud commercials, and make sure to try the delicious $1 pizza slices.

10. One World Trade Center

No matter what part of the world you came from, the memory of 9/11 was a tragedy that touched everyone’s heart (with the exception of terrorists obviously). Feel the history, learn about the heroes, and pray for the fallen.

There are some wonderful cities out there which shake up your soul and give you the Christmas jitters even in the middle of the summer. I feel that The Big Apple is one of them.  New York means a great deal for me, and I hope you can find a soft spot in your heart for this special and wonderful city.
