Fine Art in the Park in Los Altos

May 20 – 21, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

 

IMG_4626Each year, the Los Altos Rotary Club presents one of the Bay Area’s premier open-air art shows, featuring original, juried works by some 150 artists. Fine art pieces range from paintings and kinetic sculptures to ceramics, jewelry, and unique gifts. Live entertainment on two stages as well as food and beverages make this an ideal occasion for shopping and family fun. As you stroll through the lovely park viewing first-rate art, you’ll take comfort knowing that your purchase goes to support a great cause. All proceeds from Fine Art in the Park benefit socially significant projects both in the Bay Area and around the globe. And don’t miss the fabulous Los Altos Kiwanis Club Pet Parade.

“An Invitation to Dance” SF Ballet Students Showcase

May 31 and June 2, at  7:30 p.m.
June 1 at 6 p.m.

 

San Francisco-Ballet-School-students-in-MacMillan’s-Soirée-Musicale.-Photo-Erik-Tomasson-2See the magnificent and extremely talented San Francisco Ballet School’s graduates of the official school of San Francisco Ballet, before they are swept away to the stages of the best ballet companies in the world. Marvel at the students as they showcase their dancing at the Student Showcase Performance at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco. Student Showcase is a celebratory evening that highlights the range of talent in the school—from young students beginning their training—to advanced students on the verge of professional dance careers. Performances benefit America’s First Ballet School. A spectacular dinner will take place immediately after the performance on Thursday, June 1 at the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco, with funds benefiting scholarships and financial aid programs for SF Ballet School students.

Lina Broydo immigrated from Russia, then the Soviet Union, to Israel where she was educated and got married. After working at the University in Birmingham, England, she and her husband immigrated to the United States. She lives in Los Altos Hills, CA and writes about travel, art, style, entertainment, and sports. She hardly cooks or bakes, with no borsch or piroshky on her home cooking menu. Therefore, she makes reservations and enjoys dining out, mostly sushi.
