The UC Berkeley Russian-speaking Student Association (RSA) is proud to announce that the Russian Culture Show will be held on Friday, April 27th, at 7:00 pm in the Magnes at 2121 Allston Way in Berkeley.
This is the fourth biannual Culture Show organized by RSA. Everyone is welcome to attend: the program will showcase different aspects of Russian-speaking cultures and will include traditional and modern dance, singing, performances on a variety of instruments, as well as the rising indie rock group Kiwi Time. The performers are an exceptional group of gifted Berkeley students and talented local stars. Hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of local Russian bakeries, will be served before the show. The show’s location, the Magnes, is a recently opened modern museum of Jewish art and culture.
The purpose of the show is not just to provide the audience and organizers with a fun night of entertainment, but also to help promote the recognition and appreciation of the exceedingly broad and diverse Russian-speaking culture. The mission of RSA is to help foster a sense of community among people who are interested in exploring this culture.
This grand performance has always been one of the Russian Association’s favorite and most popular events, gathering over two hundred spectators, and we expect this show to be even bigger and better.
Other RSA-organized events include such activities as maslenitsa, or spring fest, barbecues, and regular game nights. The club hopes to achieve its mission by bringing people together at these events, while simultaneously providing original and interesting ways to spend time.
RSA has been a standout member of the Bay Area Russian-speaking community since 1997. Particularly at the University of California at Berkeley, the Russian-speaking Student Association serves to unite undergraduate and graduate students, alumni and professionals in sharing our culture.
