The day of September 11, 2001 became one of the most horrible days in the United States’ history. This is the day of the sadness, pain, and a day of immense loss. Someone lost their friends and family. Thousand of people died. Yet everyone wanted to live. Just like those who died in the terrorist attacks in Israel. Will this day become a Day of Awakening? Will it become the turning point in the conscience of the politicians and in the minds of the average American? Will we realize, that the world is so small, that even if we are isolated from the war zones, we are still not safe from them entirely? Terrorism is pure evil. Will people understand that if they indulge in evil, they attract suffering to themselves? First of all, because evil does not forgive generosity and thinks that it is a weakness and second, any indulgence rouses and strengthens it. Those responsible inflicted a hit to the most powerful and democratic country in the world, the United States. This was a hit into the very backbone. A hit so savage and barbaric into the symbols of America. The country not only carries the materialistic losses, but also the loss of influence (image of the democracy is suffering). Look at the happy faces of Palestinians, look at their fingers raising the symbol of victory. They think they have won. They are joyous at the loss of someone’s children, parents, men and women, and people of all races. They don’t see us as people, we are just their enemies. When we are permissive to their actions, they see us not only as enemies, but as frightened enemies. It is much more dangerous for us. If enemy is scared, it gives them strength and energy. It creates an illusion: just one more attack, just a little bit more, and then we’ll have a long awaited victory. Why, when interviewed, do people say that this attack was unexpected? From my point of view, this could have been predicted. This terrorist act is a logical continuation of the world’s politics in the Middle East. The world sees what it wants: mainstream media often publish pictures of dead Palestinians. The world is full of sympathy to them. No one seems to be interested to the fact who initiated the war. The world is debating with terrorist Arafat like with a politician and a diplomat. The tragedy on September 11 occurred because things weren’t called by their names, terrorists were not named terrorists, they were considered so called “patriots” fighting for their “state”. We were punished because we refused to see obvious things. This terrorist action and other potential ones will be unexpected only for those and only until the time when each American and European politician will not understand: different civilizations coexist on the Earth. The different people are on the different stages of development, they have different mentalities. What is valuable for us – human’s life and human’s rights – is nothing for them. We are trying to talk to terrorists with our own language, with language we do understand. But they don’t. That’s why some leaders of Arab countries are listening to us, shaking our hands and make us to think they understand us. That’s why their speeches in front of their own people is completely different from what they are saying to the people from the West. And until we will pretend we do trust them and we do not see the difference in their speeches, until it will not be crystal clear for all of us that we can not play games with terrorists, we can not put them in the direction we want, it’s not moral to deal with them – until this time we will watch how history repeats itself. – 2 – I’d like to repeat what I said just 3 days before the tragedy occurred: the State of Israel it’s only the beginning of the fight. Everyone has right to love or not to love this country, but today Israel is the only one state who is fighting with terrorism on everyday basis. It’s the front end. (Question to those who was outraged with “targeted killing” of terrorists leaders in Israel – what would you say if Israel intelligence would kill those who planned and executed September 11th tragedy? Would you still insist to call them “killers”? It would be very interesting to look in the eyes of so called humanists). Yes, we have to understand that Israel is the front end of the fight with terrorism now. If all civilized countries will not be united in front of the radical Islam threat, our Christian-Judaism- even not radical Muslim world will not survive. We will never answer to terrorists with terror. We will not kill innocent people. It means that our strength is in being united. We have to defend our and our children rights to live, we have to defend our beliefs, and our values – life, freedom, tolerance. …We were called by our relatives from St. Petersburg. Friends called from Moscow. They told us that people are coming to American Embassy in Moscow and bring flowers, candles. People cry. They are with us in these day of the horrific tragedy. … I called my friends in New York. Burned papers are even in Brooklyn. It’s difficult to take a breath. It’s difficult to live after September 11th. But we must live. We must make September 11th the Day of Awakening.
