The two-state fiction
Any discussion of the Deal of the Century Peace plan is simply academic and a function of us having too much time on our hands.
No one can seriously suggest that they’re worried about Palestinian acceptance of the terms, the proposal of East Jerusalem as capital of the “Palestinian” state, the logistics of the tunnels beneath Israel to connect West Bank to Gaza, or anything else. Unless they’ve been missing in action since 1948 until now, then we can cut them some slack.
Trump’s brilliance by proposing a plan he knew PA would never consider manifests itself in a number of ways:
– “our patience with you is running out, this is the best you’re going to get” is the underpinning clever message to Abbas.
– the TV-watching public sees this as Israel at the table, Palestinians not. Great optics.
– the attendance of UAE, Qatar and Bahrain at the announcement ceremony and their blessing of the plan yesterday underscores the Palestinian resistance to all proposals and disingenuous desire for their own state. Sheer brilliance.
– Bibi, months ago, suggested that he will rightfully annex Judea and Samaria settlements. This plan gives the green light. Bibi was involved in this plan from the get go, as was suggested yesterday at the ceremonies.
– Because Israel was always at the table in the formulation of the plan, there’s no need to worry about any aspect of it being unacceptable to Israel.
– Gives a good boost to Bibi’s re-election in March.
– And because no one (not Jared, not Donald, not Bibi) on this green earth ever expected the PA to accept it or even come to the negotiating table, there is no need to worry or discuss any part of it.
Acceptance of ANY plan for Palestinian statehood is not possible:
– means recognition and acceptance of the Jewish State. A Jewish state that they erase from every geographical map in every school and kindergarten.
– acceptance of Jews as legitimate neighbors when the Koran commands the killing of Jews, starting with Prophet Muhammad who killed 900 Jews to rise to his prominence. This goes against their religious beliefs wholesale.
– parting with millions of euros is not even a remote possibility. As soon as they have statehood, the pipeline of victimology euros ceases or at least comes to a substantial halt.
– statehood comes with international standards. Any aggression towards Israel from that point on will be dealt with in the most gloves-are-off type of way. IDF has zero obligation to spare anyone or drop leaflets of incoming retaliation.
– Abbas’ reign comes to an end. His political platforms are no longer relevant or possible.
There has always been one partner at the peace table. Nothing will change until Islam changes. And good luck with that. This has never been about land, peace or Jerusalem.
Brilliant work by the Trump administration and Bibi. Now let’s get that Judea and Samaria back into Jewish hands. End of story.
