Restaurant Weeks in San Francisco and San Jose

San Francisco: January 18 to 29
San Jose: January 16 to 26

SFrestaurantweekNearly 100 restaurants in San Francisco and 25 restaurants in San Jose celebrate Restaurant Week by offering visitors a delicious culinary journey with special deals and foods including: discounts, pre fixe menus, chef’s tables, wine pairings and much more. Not sure how this will fit into my New Year’s resolution of losing weight, but I guess walking in the cities and looking for the best gastronomic delicacies and discovering new and exciting restaurants should help. Restaurant Week is part of California Restaurant Month, designated by Visit California. During its past 6 iterations, more than 50 destination partners have participated and contributed to its success. Check out the websites for the full list of restaurants participating in this cities-wide promotion.

SaintMichaelTrioIf it’s January, it must be blues time. Maestro Mitchell Klein will conduct the Peninsula Symphony in a program featuring the renowned Saint Michael Trio of Daniel Cher on violin, Russell Hancock on piano and Michel Flexer on cello performing compositions by Bollin’s Suite for orchestra and jazz, Wilson’s “Jive in Blue Major,” Walker’s Concert Suite, Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” and Handy’s “St. Louis Blues.”  This will be an unforgettable evening saluting famous American blues composers and musicians. No finger- snapping please! Just sway to the enjoyable sounds of blues music. A symphonic surprise is also in the repertoire! I wonder what it might be. You will have to attend the concerts to find out and let me know.
