Enjoy the sounds of your favorite operas as they fill the air of the Robin Williams Meadow at the Golden Gate Park! Music Director Eun Sun Kim leads the San Francisco Opera Orchestra in a delightful afternoon of arias and duets performed by the SF Opera stars as a preview of their fall season.
Come early, bring a picnic basket, a comfy blanket and spend an afternoon listening to the San Francisco Opera’s magical performances. Don’t miss this time-honored Bay Area tradition! Opera in the Park is a free outdoor concert dedicated to celebrating the community and artistry of San Francisco Opera, and the perfect opportunity to get a sneak peek into their fall season! The preview concert is a mix of operatic favorites, pop classics, and songs from upcoming productions. Leave your favorite pooch at home as they tend to assist the singers in their own interpretation of the arias. There is a designated ADA parking area and drop-off location near a path that leads directly to the meadow and ADA seating area.

The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are thrilled to announce the exclusive West Coast presentation of the international touring exhibition Ramses the Great and the Gold of the Pharaohs. This once-in-a-lifetime installation at the de Young museum will explore the life and accomplishments of one of the most remarkable and celebrated rulers in world history, Ramses II, known today as Ramses the Great. Bringing more than 180 dazzling objects to San Francisco—many newly discovered and having never left Egypt before—the exhibition features exquisite sculpture, precious treasures, and state-of-the-art multimedia productions that will demonstrate the opulence and power of ancient Egyptian civilization.

Year of the Tiger: Chinese Traditions in Sonoma County (1890-2022)
Ongoing showcase
While Chinese residents already lived in Santa Rosa by 1890, the year is a good starting point for the establishment of Santa Rosa’s historic Chinatown as a defined neighborhood.
Consisting of wood sidewalks and modest buildings along Second Street, it was occupied by a community of mostly men, and an occasional family, isolated to that part of the city as racism and anti-Chinese rhetoric reached a peak in the 1880s. As 1890 was the Year of the Tiger in Chinese astrology, 2022 marks the return of the Year of the Tiger and a time to look back at the continuing presence of Chinese traditions in Sonoma County. Year of the Tiger shows that while the Chinese American community is more equally integrated into the North Bay, the important threads of community, culture, language, tradition, ritual, and history remain tightly woven into the fabric of Sonoma County. This exhibition was done in partnership with the Redwood Empire Chinese Association, founded in 1988 with a focus on sharing Chinese culture.
