[/images] A Taste of Venice in Napa Valley
Just an hour drive from San Francisco is a gorgeous paradise for romance while riding a gondola with a real gondolier, who sings (in Italian) and wears a typical gondolier’s striped shirt. It is the closest you can get to Venice, without flying to Italy at present time. Napa River is also a perfect getaway for the entire family or as my kids say: “IIt’s cool.” From waterskiing and wakeboarding with some aficionados claiming that it is better than the Delta (can you hear me, Michael??). Fishing for salmon, striped bass, sturgeon, steelhead; canoeing and swimming – it is the perfect way to experience the river. Make it a weekend getaway, visit a number of wineries and deli shops in the area, stroll along the river and have a sunset dinner at one of the many outstanding restaurants along the way. But it is the gondola rides that bring me to this place to reminisce about my wonderful and romantic visits with my husband to Venice, my favorite city in Italy.
