“Chum” the Ice Cold Beer Makes it Eight

Two new friends have joined our small family of magnificent six on the recent weekend getaway to Half Moon Bay, our favorite destination on California’s picturesque coast. With the new motto of “Don’t Wait to Celebrate” we decided to spend as much time as possible with our children and grandchildren away from TV and other loud, squeaking and ringing electronic gadgets.

Kona, the adorable Labrador/Shepherd/Chow Chow/Pit Bull joined our family last winter. Yes, my daughter had the official DNA testing done in order to establish Kona’s noble royal background. She participated with us in every activity, including the kayaking, swimming, chasing butterflies and walking on the beach. Since we will definitely plan to come back, we are looking for a beautiful pet friendly hotel with a view on the ocean in this beautiful jewel of California. Any suggestions?

But a family gathering without an ice cold beer would be just a meeting. And we were ready to party! May I introduce you to our eight family member: Chum, the newly brewed dry-hopped red ale which was created as a collaborative effort between both the San Jose local craft brewery Gordon Biersch and the San Jose Sharks. The ice cold ale was created in order to cheer the San Jose Sharks fans, and we definitely are, and to encourage the team’s hockey players to bring the coveted National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup to San Jose. Go Sharks!

Although I was not invited to the official tasting and sampling of the selection of this ale, really??!!  I must admit I would have voted for it to become the official beer of the San Jose Sharks and definitely of the Broydo family’s future celebrations.

It’s all in the family and now we are eight… but eight is not enough as we are thinking of adopting a new puppy Scout.
